Sulzer's Axially Split Casing Double Suction Pump Series are designed for a wide range of clean, raw, sea and brackish water applications. The Sulzer SMD was designed to meet the demands of each individual application. The SMD benefits from a class leading hydraulic design that combined with two specific mechanical envelopes (Standard SMD and Configured SMD).

The main benefits of the SMD is the wide range of configurations that meet any specific application. The SMD features an optimum hydraulic fit that allows a maintained high efficiency over a wide flow range. This creates a low net positive suction head requirement (NPSHR) value that maintains the best efficiency point even at overload. The pump is maintenance friendly with interchangeable parts with horizontal and vertical constructions to allow a flexible pump station design.

  • Double volute for all sizes with innovative cutwater for minimum radial load pulses

  • Multiple hydraulics per volute optimized by Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)

  • 360° bearing bracket with grease or oil lubricated bearings for 100 000 bearings life time

  • Finned bearing bracket equipped with maintenance-free bearing isolators; fan cooling option for optimum bearing performance

  • Dry shaft design
